This router rocks! 5 by .. Dslsurfer (Seattle, WA USA)
This is the easiest router I've ever connected and I've connected several both wired and wireless. 3 easy steps as it says on the box, connect the router to the modem, plug in the router, insert the CD and the CD does the rest and it worked the first time around. Not one issue. Ditto with connecting the printer, plug in the USB cable from the printer, it detects a printer and asks if you want to connect it and that's it. Printer worked first time from my laptop over Wi-Fi and I have an old printer, a Canon MP830 which is 4 years old, and still no issues. If your printer driver isn't installed it will tell you so you can install it then it will finish connecting. Incredible, I didn't believe the hype on the product info but for me it worked as promised.

Has performed very well with some minor issues with Update 4 by .. AlexJouJou (California)
Update as of end of August 2010: I downloaded a brand new firmware update and it has fixed several issues that I had - namely the lag time between when I wake my laptop from sleep mode and when the wireless kicks in and the dropped connection issues. My speeds also seem to be more steady (although it's only been a few days so I can't say for sure yet). Overall I'm still pretty happy with the router - keep in mind it's being compared to a Linksys Wrt54G that had to be reset multiple times daily.

Original Review

I've had this router for about a month now - and, for the most part, have been very pleased with it. It was fairly easy to set up - although it hiccuped several times and had to be re-done (lost the info) and I've had to reset it twice in the 4 weeks we've had it. The signal strength seems fine (we are in a small 780 square foot apartment so it's not really a test of this).

So once I got it set up it has been running well (and admittedly that took a while with the issues - no tech support needed). I never call tech support's as I'm usually very frustrated trying to understand the techs. The speeds can vary widely - from lows in the teens of Mbps to highs in the mid 100's Mbps but it never seems to drag too noticably. We've run 4 devices at a time (Laptop, PC, Wii streaming netflix, and a PSP) and have had no problems. There have been a couple of updates come through that we've installed. After one of them we did have a problem and had to re install software and do the password again. Nothing since though.

We came to this router when our Linksys gave out - and we had to reset that multiple times per day up to double digits on weekend days. So far this is nothing like that at all. We are very happy with it and it has continued to perform well. We do not use the Share features (don't much care right now about them) as it was bought as a wireless router only without a need for some of the other functions. I can't speak to how it works for those things.

The 4 stars is for the fact it was a bit more complicated than it should be setting up (since it made us restart the set up) and for the fact it has required a small number of resets. It is still so much less than our old Linksys that it hardly even blimps on the radar. Also the fact that speeds vary can be a bit strange - while we normally are around 54-78 Mbps we see some dipping - honestly I'm not sure if that's the router or the cable company. Overall I am very satisfied. Rest assured I will come back and update if we encounter any problems!

Good, But! 3 by .. S. P. Lewin ()
The router works as advertised and was a little tough setting up.

The main reason I purchased this router is because of the USB to be able to hook up a printer and external hard drive. The problem is you have to pick one of them at a time.

I used a USB hub to have both printer and hard drive connected at the same time but the devices do not power up with a hub.

Will be returning unless I can find a solution for this.

Poor coverage, many irritations 2 by .. Amanda M. Jones (California, USA)
I got this router to replace an old D-link that finally broke. According to the box, this router has "great" coverage for ANY size home. Well, the router is down the hall and my computer is in the bedroom. At no more than 8 yards away, my desktop computer can't consistently pick up a signal from this router. I get "very low" signal strength for 5 or 10 minutes at a time, then "no wireless networks in range". I also dislike the setup software; it took me through steps to enter the SSIN and pass, and would alternately say that the name or password was incorrect (they weren't; and as soon as it verified one, it would switch to saying the other was wrong). Eventually the setup utility suggested i call Belkin customer support. Customer support was fairly helpful (not great) for the setup issues, if you can handle a heavy Indian accent. I was amused that the first thing the tech on the phone said to do was close the Belkin setup software and not use it. I've been nothing but frustrated with this router. I was expecting it to be at least as good as my cheap, 7-year old router, but no luck.

Not so good 2 by .. Mark Goode (Signal Hill, California United States)
I decided to update my old Buffalo G router to this because of the faster speeds and USB port for network storage. The best I can say about this router is that the network storage worked flawlessly. It showed in every computer with no hassle at all. Unfortunately the terrible speed on this think outweighed any positives from the USB storage. This router was SLOWER than the G router it was replacing. At first I thought my cable company may have been having broadband problems. After the third day it was still just as slow. Another big problem was connectivity. It would drop connections left and right. I saw the "Server can not be found" message in firefox more than I had ever seen it before. Other times the monitor software would tell me the network disappeared when it hadn't. I'm returning this and sticking with Buffalo for now. It's too bad, because the features on this router are great for the price. It's too bad the router part is so terrible.
