i have a computer in the basement with a wireless card. the signal wasn't getting thru so i order one of these and it worked like a charm.
the connector is SMA which works with practically all desktop wifi antennas that are removable.
went from a buggy 2 bar connection to a solid 4-5 bar connection with this.

Let me tell you it looks like something from outer space, but that's not the point. The point is it works no better, in fact a little worse than my short-antenna 300mw present network interface. I still am not sure if it is just some kind of gag. One would hope to maybe adjust it so it functions...No it is solid-state with a magnet on the bottom. Maybe I could use it as a refrigerator ornament on Halloween.
