Perfect as a PS3 USB 2.0 port extender, powered 5 by .. A. Dent (Minas Anor, GD)
I don't really need a USB hub at this time because all my laptops came with plenty and my old-style PS3 came with 4. However, a couple of my friends have the 2-USB ports newer PS3s and they needed something that was inexpensive, small and unobtrusive. We did some research and this model is what we decided was the best solution.

The PS3 now has one of the 2 USB ports connected to the hub with the provided USB cable and they are using the extra ports to power the controllers, the PS3 keypad attachment and the the more permanent attachments such as the Eye camera. The second PS3 port is free and it can be used for whatever ad-hoc requirements such as the steering wheel when they play a game that requires one.

I like the fact that the extra ports are powered - helps with charging - and the LEDs provide some visual feedback, showing when a port is in use.

I am unaware of any negatives and the price is right.

It's very good, the power supply may be touchy though 5 by .. John Wondolowski (Fairview Hights, IL)
Pros: It's light weight, the lights are colorful and entertaining, and allows me to connect more than two devices to my computer

Cons: With the supplied AC adapter it didn't provide enough power to run my Simpletech 160GB hard drive with both USB plugs inserted and getting my Xbox 360 controller to work with it was bit of a pain. But it does work with it. the included USB cable is very short, and it's hard to remove things from the ports, I am worried I'll break the thing if I'm not careful. Also, I didn't like the clear plastic look to much

Update January 28 2010; someone made a comment to my review stating that the power supply is likely dead. So I ordered the one that he recommended and found that with the new power supply it will run the hard drive so check the power supply when it arrives

LED USB Hub 5 by .. N. Collins (Guthrie, OK United States)
I bought 2 of these hubs for my dad for a gift. We bought these to replace the 4 (or more) hubs he had daisy chained together. I liked that the hub has the LED lights to help you color code your devices. This has helped my dad know what is plugged into which port. To say the least, Dad really likes the hubs we gave him. Now he has at least 6 hubs daisy chained together instead of just 4 or so!

Christmas lights in June! 5 by .. IdahoGuy (Idaho)
I'd been looking for a hub for my Mac laptop with more ports than the 4-port hub I've got, but the prices of the higher numbered ported hubs seemed too high so I hadn't dropped the bucks.
I like going to thrift stores looking for high-tech sort of things that don't work right & then fix them, & this afternoon I spotted one of these transparent 7-ports at a Salvation Army thrift store, minus the 5v power adapter (which I can find at another thrift store, probably). Price was right compared to others I'd seen brand new -- I paid only $5 for this thrift store one.
At the store I couldn't see that it had multi-colored LED lites in it, only that it had 7 ports & a mini-USB to USB cable plugged into it. So I got it home, unplugged my 4-port, & plugged in my new transparent 7-port hub. I was mostly wondering if it'd even work without the adapter... (but afterwards, I researched it & read that it's a self-powered hub -- doesn't need the adapter to work. Apparently only when higher-current USB devices are plugged in would the adapter perhaps be needed.
And surprise! hehehe.... LOVE it..... all the lights. It's like a flat little Christmas tree thingy sitting next to my laptop now!! Plus it's got a middle LED lite that itself blinks constantly in 3 different colors: red, blue & green. That probably shows which colored hubs [2 blue, 2 red & 3 yellow] are gettting electronically switched to the input cable.
Pretty cheery, really, with all the different colored lites on, plus the blinker!
Right now I've got my optical mouse receiver, a Bluetooth dongle, 2 1GB drives, a 2GB Firefly & 2 8GB DaneElec drives plugged in. Everything works great!
So ya..... I'm happy with this. If I'd have known this little gizmo's lights were so cheery I'd have gotten one of these off of Amazon here long ago, 'cause I see that even brand new here on Amazon the price for one of these is pretty low!

Solid USB Hub 5 by .. Mind Like Water (Durham, NC)
For the price, this is a fantastic little USB hub.

A few things to be aware of... the power cable is very short. It was not long enough to go from my surge strip on the floor to my desktop. A quick extension cord (or moving the surge strip) fixed this without any major hangups.

Also, the lights are kinda cheesy for the Hub. If you're not into having your desk glow with 7 different lights, this might not be the hub for you.

On the plus side, it works. That's more than I can say about the POS it is replacing. It also runs at a low temperature -- it is barely above room temp right now and it's been running for about a day.

Having 7 extra USB ports on my desk, and only one cable to connect when I set down my laptop is great. At the price point, I'm willing to put up with the glowing lights and shorter power cable.
