Works as a charger- does NOT sync E815 phone with PC

This products claims to "Simultaneously synchronize and recharge your device". That statement is only partially true. It works fine as a USB charger, but the very limited Bitpim application does not work with the E815. The USB Modem drivers supplied, and the ones that technical support subsequently supplied, did not recognize the E815 phone as well.
I was able to find other Motorola drivers on the Web that did recognize the E815 as a modem, but with Bitpim, I cannot sync the E815 with my PC. Technical support acknowledged as much, saying basically, "The Bitpim application is pretty limited and does not support a lot of phones".
If you want to sync the phone with your PC's email application or back up your phone book to your PC, this will not do the trick. I probably should have coughed up the big bucks for the Motorola kit.
Nothing but a pretty charger

I bought this cable so that I can sync to my PC while charging. Only the second part works. I already have the Motorola Phone Tools software and have been using a basic data cable, but wanted the charging capabilty. Now I have the opposite problem. The strange thing is that my PC recognizes the phone, but can't sync with it. This would have been the best thing since sliced bread if it worked. I guess some things are too good to be true.
