The Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX200 is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect Wireless-G, Wireless-B, and other performance-enhanced SRX devices to the network. Second, there's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10-100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce indead spotsin in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to twice as far as standard Wireless-G. And the farther away you are, the more advantage you get, the higher data rate and reflection-friendly technology can yield up to 6 times more throughput than Wireless-G in some situations. Even your standard Wireless-G and -B equipment will work better when communicating with SRX-enabled devices. The SRX200 is a great, reliable router!

I setup and install wireless networks for a living, and this router has certainly been bad for my business :-) I have installed around 20 of them for small (mostly home) networks, and after they get installed, none of my customers has to call me about router problems. (This is the "bad for business" part.)
Just make sure that you go and download the latest firmware for the router off of the Linksys.com web site. You might even want to save the firmware on your PC before installing the router so you can do the firmware update immediately.
Of course, since I do this for a living, I don't use the install wizard(s) so I don't know how easy or hard the router is to configure properly if you are a newbie in this area.
Finally, the main reason I recommend this router to my customers is definitely not speed. You would essentially need to purchase all new wireless adapters to get the speed boost advertised. However, speed is not the major concern of most of my customers - but distance from router is a big concern. Many of my customers have big homes or "roomy" businesses where a typical G54 router cannot cover the entire home/business. This router increases the distance one can be from the router by 1.5 to 2 times when compared with a typical G54 router.
With the current price of less than $60, this router is a great buy!

This router/switch/access point is working great for me - now that I downloaded and installed the latest driver for my Linksys wireless adapter. Performance has been flawless so far, and it is a definite upgrade from the non-MIMO Linksys wireless router that I used before. It seems impervious thus far to many of the normal wireless interference sources that I used to experience.
I also really like the pain-free installation wizard that Linksys provides. It assumes you know nothing about how to install a router, so it may be too slow for some, who will opt for the usual web-browser setup. (Too bad the wizard didn't suggest updating the adapter driver...but Linksys' web page has a hassle-free trouble-shooting app that leads you to that solution.)

I have read some of the other reviews on this product and I think it comes down to this - This is a great router...if you get a good one. I purchased this to replace a Netgear router that I suspected was not putting out the signal it should have. I have a laptop, another PC w/ a wireless card, and another PC hardwired into it. In sections of my house I was getting low to very low signal with the Netgear. Now I am getting Excellent signal in all areas of my house! I am just using standard G adapters and not the SRX200 cards. Maybe Linksys is having some production problems and some are defective, but mine is working great and I set it up on all computers in 10 minutes. Hope this helps!

I purchased a WRT54GX2 because of dead spots/dropped connections in the remote parts of my WRT54GS wireless network. The range and speed improvements were impressive. I didn't even upgrade my wireless network card. The router was very easy to set up. Buy this if you want to improve the speed and range of your wireless network.

I have tried many routers from Linksys. Most of them were ABSOLUTE CRAP, as can be read on their reviews on any site! They always had to be "reset" or the wifi would just die. After a year of this frustrating mess, I bought this thing. I have had 0 problems with it since the install! The signal is also MUCH better then all previous linsys routers. The computers that normally got 15-25% now get 60-85% in the same location! ... and I can download for an extended amount of time because it STAY CONNECTED! Great router, great interface, easy setup, and it just WORKS all the time. ..about time!
